Saturday, September 17th was an awesome day to remember for the East Valley Pro-Life Alliance as nearly 70 parents, grandparents and children gathered in the Alliance Classroom for the showing of “YOU ARE A MASTERPIECE” and an Ice Cream Social!
What was witnessed that afternoon was no less than an amazing coming together of live-action pro-life education and ice cream! And what a “Masterpiece” that was to behold!
Twelve year old Matthew, opened the program with a prayer, followed by the audience joining in with the Pledge of Allegiance! Then as the children were prepared to take a “peek” into their very first home, silence fell upon the filled-to-capacity classroom but it wasn’t long before a few giggles here and there and sometimes even an outburst of laughter broke the silence as the children and adults alike watched and enjoyed the playful antics of an animated pre-born baby with the hic-cups or yawning or “swimming around” in his very own swimming pool!
It was truly a very special day seeing the mission of the Alliance unfold as both “little and big” hearts and minds were open to the beauty of life as reflected in the testimonial of a grandmother and her grandson:
My 9 year old grandson didn’t want to come to see the movie. Once we arrived, he definitely didn’t want to stay, and emphatically told me he would close his eyes and not watch a stupid movie about babies… That grandson spent the rest of the afternoon and evening telling the company who had come to our home for dinner, all about the movie…
Here’s what he said:
I learned Zygotes, Embryos and Fetuses, are all names for babies growing inside their Moms. I got my own little baby … See? I like it. That’s how big my Grandma’s baby was inside her, before it died. But we’ll meet that kid when we get to heaven… “

In addition to the Ice Cream Novelties so generously provided by our Hospitality Chairman, Delores Rodriguez and Frys Food Store, the children were excited to choose their own combination of “silly pro-life wristbands” to wear as a reminder of the “Masterpiece” they really are. As the families prepared to leave, much to the delight of the children, they could also take home with them, a 12-week preborn Precious One along with a full-color card describing their own development as a pre-born baby!
In reaching out to our children, the future of the pro-life movement, the day was a most rewarding experience for the newly formed Alliance and its’ membership!
